About Itaipu Dam

Itaipu Dam crosses the Paraná River on the border of Brazil and Paraguay. It is a monumental engineering project. The structure took enough concrete to build 210 football stadiums.

Since 1984, the dam has generated massive amounts of electricity. Today, it serves as a major binational tourist attraction. Guided Dam Sightseeing Tours showcase the massive exterior and complex interior.

You can choose between an outdoor bus ride and a technical interior visit. Read our guide on Compare Itaipu Tours to decide which fits your schedule.

2 reviews of the private waterfalls & dam on Viator

Falls are amazing. Especially the pier at Devil's throat. We stayed on Argentina side and our guide got us through the border with ease despite the traffic being terrible. She was excellent.

Nilsa provided a first class service before and during the tour. She was informative and well organised, making sure we got the maximum from each stop on the tour. Highly recommended.
